Norbert Kricke, one of the famous German sculptors, is known for his contribution in the field of art and sculpture. Norbert Kricke's impressive works has made his name worth remembering.
The great sculptor was born on 30th November, 1922 in Dusseldorf. Norbert Kricke took the job of a freelance artist after completion of his studies in 1947. In the late 1940s Kricke became interested in the works of Antoine Pevsner and Naum Gabo, the constructivist artists. Kricke came to limelight with his first work, an impressive sculpture made of straight and tied metal rods which were welded together. The sculpture, which was truly mesmerizing brought him to limelight.
Norbert Kricke was also associated with Informel group and with ZERO. His name is often associated with the Nouveau Realisme movement. The artist produced various works in collaboration with Werner Ruhnau and Yves Klein. The artist was also a teacher of Art Academy in Dusseldorf.
Norbert Kricke's first exhibition was organized in the year 1953 at Gallery Ophir situated in Munich. Several exhibitions of his works were organized which left the viewers spellbound. His sculptures, which were showcased in the year 1961 at the Museum of Modern Art located in New York secured attention of the spectators as well as the critics. Besides he also participated in various other exhibitions, which consequently took place in the years 1959, 1964 and 1977. His exhibits were also showcased in various international exhibitions. The most prominent among them being the Venice Biennale held in 1964.
In 1965 Kricke's published his theory on Forms on Water together with John Anthony Thwaites. In the year 1966, the sculptor was honored with Wettbewerb zur kunstlerischen Gestaltlung with Yves Klein and Robert Adams.

Since1955, the sculptor received various felicitations. In 1964 he was offered a special position for his work. In 1972, Norbert Kricke was offered the directorship of Staatliche Kunstakademie Dusseldorf.
This eminent sculptor passed away on 28th June 1984 but his works that are exhibited in various museums are still appreciated. Norbert Kricke's works have set an example for the next generation constructivist artists.
